Arsenal Interested in Schneiderlin As Cech Wheels In

Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech in the coming days and are also interested in Morgan Schneiderlin.

An agreement between the two rival clubs was reached on Monday, as Cech was determined to move across London for regular first team team football and was quick to agree personal terms.

Initially were told that the deal would be completed on Thursday, although we now understand that may not be the case, but the transfer will be concluded by next week for a fee of £10.9 million.

Wenger has been looking to sign Cech since it became apparent that Thibaut Courtois would become Chelsea No.1, as Arsenal had hoped to sign Cech in the summer of 2013 as they forecasted the potential that he may become surplus to requirements in 2013/14. But Chelsea were not certain that Courtois would be ready, and he remained in Madrid for a further season on loan. Now Wenger has his man. Now that both sides have quality goal keepers they are less lightly to concede goals. Arsenal are also exploring the opportunity of signing Schneiderlin as the Southampton midfielder has today expressed his desire to settle his future by next week, with the Saints resigned to selling the France international.

Schneiderlin told France Bleu Alsace radio station: “The negotiations are ongoing and should be completed in the coming days, hopefully before the resumption of training next week.”

Arsenal are not willing to match the mooted £24million valuation but are looking to explore the potential of opening negotiations with Southampton, with the player looking to move to a Champions League club.
