Miquel To Start Against Orient
Reserve team Captain, Ignasi Miquel will start in the centre of Arsenal’s defence against Leyton Orient tomorrow night.
Miquel started the first tie at Brisbane Road – his first team debut – and despite being partly responsible for the O’s equaliser, the Catalan defender made a promising start to his first team career.
The FA Cup 5th round replay will mark Miquel’s home debut as the former Barca trainee comes in for the injured Laurent Koscielny, with Sebastian Squillaci replacing Johan Djourou (rested).
The 6ft 4in centre back is highly rated by Arsene Wenger and is one reason why Arsenal did not enter the transfer market in the January window, despite Thomas Vermaelen’s continued absence through injury.
Miquel attended the Carling Cup Final at the weekend with his father and will now be aiming to help Arsenal to another Wembley final.
