Fabregas Wins Fitness Race

Arsenal Captain Cesc Fabregas looks set to return from injury in time for the visit of Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Fabregas, who has been plagued by hamstring problems for the best part of two years, will return for the first time since hobbling off in the Champions League last 16 second leg against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Arsene Wenger stated at his Press conference today that Fabregas, along with Theo Walcott and Alex Song, will return to the squad for Saturday’s match.

“Fabregas, Song, Walcott and Diaby will all be available,” said Wenger. ”I have not decided if they will start the game yet but they will all be available.”

The Spain international returned to full training at London Colney this week after last week expressing his frustrations on a live Twitter feed:

“It’s been a weird season for me with injuries,” he said, “and I just want to make it right, and I want to come back stronger than ever and fitter than ever so that it won’t happen again.

“Hopefully you will see me against Blackburn.”

Arsene Wenger will be wary of throwing Fabregas straight into the starting line-up on Saturday following the gamble on his fitness in Barcelona which backfired and has since ruled the Arsenal captain out of their last two matches.

But following a positive week in full training, Fabregas is set to return as Arsenal prepare for the title run in.
