Djourou Out For Season Following Swiss FA Gaffe
Arsenal will confirm tomorrow that Johan Djourou will not play any further part this season, despite the Swiss FA releasing a statement on their website saying that the defender could be fit to play in the Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria on March 26th.
The statement was subsequently removed following a complaint from Arsenal who are baffled as to why the Swiss FA would release such a statement with no medical evidence to back it up.
Djourou will see a shoulder specialist later this week to determine if the dislocation suffered at Old Trafford on Saturday will need to be operated on.
This has dealt Arsene Wenger huge blow as Arsenal enter the title run in without their in-form centre back, with Thomas Vermaelen still undergoing extensive treatment on the achilles injury that has plagued his season.
This is yet another incident involving a national team’s handling of an Arsenal player that will displease Wenger at a vital stage of the season.
