Arsenal’s Podolski Deal Nears Completion
Arsenal were yesterday finalising terms with Cologne over the signing of Lukas Podolski.
wearethenorthbank.com understands the two clubs and the player were discussing terms, with the German international striker set to sign ahead of Euro 2012.
Arsene Wenger has long been an admirer of Podolski and has since been given first hand confirmation of just how good a player he could be for Arsenal from Per Mertesacker.
Mertesacker, who revealed he had been texting his Germany team mate about joining the Gunners, paid a glowing reference of Podolski to Wenger and Arsenal’s chief scout Steve Rowley.
Arsenal attempted to sign the ex-Bayern Munich player in January but he was not keen to leave his boyhood club with whom he wanted to see out the season and ensure their survival from relegation. He also did not want to jeopardise his national team selection with the fear that he would have had to fight for a starting place at Arsenal so close to a major tournament.
Brilliant news. Cheers for the update. I do trust wearethenorthbank more than other sites. Please post more transfer news and also do you have any idea who we could try for next? Mvila? Goetze? Hazard? Marvin martin?
