Arsenal’s New Signing Recommended By Hiddink
Arsenal’s new left back Andre Santos was recommended to Arsene Wenger by Guus Hiddink.
wearethenorthbank.com understands that the current Turkey coach and good friend of Wenger spoke to the Arsenal boss about the then Turkish-based fullback.
Hiddink coached Fenerbahce in the early 90s and has attended many matches at the Sükrü Saracoglu Stadium since becoming Turkey’s national coach.
With Wenger deciding to sell Gael Clichy, he had been looking for an experienced left back to aid the development of Kieran Gibbs.
After Hiddink’s confirmation of the Brazil International’s quality, and with Fenerbahce needing to sell having been excluded from the Champions League over match fixing allegations, Wenger instructed Ivan Gazidis to sign the 28-year-old, and the deal was swiftly sealed.
Santos has 22 Brazil caps and is an attack minded left back, having converted from left midfield – following in the footsteps of Silvinho, Ashley Cole and Gibbs.
The former Corinthians player scored 10 goals in two seasons at Fenerbahce and is in line to make his Arsenal debut against Swansea on Saturday.
Andre Santos is GREAT footballer, he has high standard techical abilities of passing game, very effective vision of court and finishing ability from more then many strikers in premier league. by the way, he is not a standart “championship manager” full back. His stamania has problems after 60 minutes especially in hard games, he sometimes make simple mistakes because of his confidence of himself. but if arsenal can put a left winger who has abilites of center midfielder (can keeping ball and dribbling ball to inside of midfield area) front of Santos, he can be so succesful at Arsenal. Good Luck Andre.
Against Swansea:
————– Szczesny
Sagna – Merta – Kozzi – Santos
—– Frimpong – Ramsey
Walcot —– Arteta ——– Arshavin/Benayoun/Park
—————- RVP
Or
We could play Gibbs in LB and Santos in LW
I’m just happy for The Arsenal that we have some great contacts in the world of football. The picture paints a great vibe between Wenger and Hiddink and I felt obliged to comment!
For those that grumble they can now realise that we all got him with the help of an experienced manager.
Hiddink is such a champion!
