Arsenal Transfer Targets – It’s Now Or Summer
Arsenal have two clear targets that they’re looking to sign before the transfer window slams shut on Friday.
wearethenorthbank.com understands that Arsenal are continuing their pursuit of David Villa, as Barcelona look to play hardball in order to get the best price they can and recoup as much of the £34m they paid for the striker in 2010.
Villa is certainly interested in the move, having been limited to just 12 starts this season – four of which have been in the Copa del Rey. The Spanish international would become Arsenal’s highest earner as he currently earns around £110/week.
He is the man Wenger wants, but Arsenal may have to wait until the summer to get him as Barca believe that selling him now leaves them short for the run-in.
The other player that Arsenal have turned their attention to is Mohamed Diame. The West Ham midfielder is set on a move having been dropped to the bench for the recent 5-1 defeat at the hands of his suitors.
The return of Diaby and Tomas Rosicky and the impressive recent form of Aaron Ramsey has bolstered an Arteta-less midfield but Arsenal are still looking at Diame to add strength to the squad, although West Ham are doing all they can in order to keep the player.
Diame has a £3.5m release clause but West Ham are looking to offer the Senegalese a new deal to eliminate the clause.
