Arsenal Set For Mustafi Negotiations

Arsenal are set to begin negotiations with Valencia for German defender, Shkodran Mustafi.

Following the injury to Per Mertesacker, Arsenal have been looking to sign a super quality centre back to come straight into the team, and after much speculation are looking to Mustafi to fill the void.

Mustafi is currently in the UK with Valencia for a friendly against Bournemouth, but was ruled out of the pre season match due to a ‘foot injury’.

With Gabriel also recovering from tonsillitis and Laurent Koscielny not due back to full training until next Monday, Wenger is looking to sign Mustafi in time to prepare for the season opener against Liverpool on 14th August.

Mustafi has a reported buyout clause of €50m but it is understood that Valencia would accept an offer in the region of €40m, with Arsenal keen to sign the versatile German international as soon as possible.

Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez will travel with the squad to Norway tomorrow for the final pre season friendly against Viking FK on Friday before heading to Sweden to take on Manchester City on Sunday. Jack Wilshere will not travel due to a knee injury picked up on the US tour.
