Arsenal Line Up Mata And Benzema As Fabregas Nears Exit

Arsene Wenger is resigned to losing Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona and has earmarked Juan Mata and Karim Benzema as big name replacements.

wearethenorthbank.com understands that Arsenal have opened discussions with Valencia over the signing of Mata, who recently starred for Spain during their U21 European Championship win.

Liverpool are also interested in signing the left sided attacker, who is due back from his holiday in the next few days.

Wenger has also set his sights on Benzema, who has experienced a tough time in Madrid.

The Arsenal Boss has long been an admirer of the France striker and Real Madrid would be willing to sell for €30million in order to fund the signing of their two main transfer targets; Neymar and Kun Aguero.

Arsenal are keen to make big-name signings to ease the impact of Fabregas’ impending departure, and Benzema is seen by Wenger as a player that can ease the goal scoring burden on Robin van Persie.

Barca have been keen to drive down the fee for Fabregas as they are looking to offload players in order to free up funds for the signing of the Arsenal captain, as well as Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez.

Having first offered £27million, the Catalan club are looking to meet Arsenal’s £40million valuation by offering Maxwell as part of the deal.

Wenger who has been looking for an experienced left back to compete with Keiran Gibbs following the departure of Gael Clichy to Manchester City and this may be viable way of reaching an agreement.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will finally announce the signing of Gervinho by Friday after the player underwent a medical today. The official announcement of the signing has been delayed due to administrative issues. The Ivory Coast striker will sign for €11million on a four-year deal worth up to £60,000 per week.
