Arsenal Keeping Close Eye On Götze
Arsenal’s Chief Scout was in the Westfalenstadion on Tuesday night watching German wunderkind, Mario Götze.
The 19-year-old is on the radar of most of Europe’s biggest clubs and Arsene Wenger is a clear admirer.
wearethenorthbank.com understands that Arsenal Chief Scout, Steve Rowley – along with another senior scout – were sent to Dortmund to watch the German international attacker in action in the Champions League Group F win over Olympiakos.
Götze impressed – as he did against Arsenal in the Group F opener – with another competent display from a central attacking midfield position.
Wenger rates Götze highly, and if Dortmund fail to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, they could be tempted to sell in January for the right offer.
Talking prior to the Dortmund game in September, Wenger said of Götze: “He is the provider, the one who had the best assists in Germany and is the most dangerous player.”
But surely Gotze isn’t a realistic transfer target? Does Wenger believe that he can pay enough and that Gotze will be willing to join Arsenal?
“they could be tempted to sell in January for the right offer.”
no they wouldn’t. Dortmund is a club with a very good economy and have many times said, both via trainer and owner, that they won’t sell Götze for any money in the coming years.
Götze’s family has told him he should stay in Germany and he has himself said (as has his owner) that there is no point in moving when he is this young.
Don’t think anybody has a chance of getting him until 2-3 years from now
If ever there was a player that we spent big on to sign, it would be this guy. Fantastic player and I can only hope that we go for him in January
it will be great to sign gotze
We need him in the middle. When Jack is back it will be very interesting. We still need a striker and defender.
he actually isn’t a central player and operates mostly to the right…but switches with Kagawa so many times you will see him in the middle…but he really isn’t that kind of a central player.
If arsenal were able to snatch him, he would surely be the one to put theo on the bench…coz him taking wilshere’s spot is just wasting good personnel I think
Maybe they were their to watch them as we play them next in the CL
They were there to watch Götze. They had a scout watching the team as a whole – and Olympiakos – but Rowley was there too to watch Götze as they are very keen. As Xtravaganxa states above, it’ll be difficult deal to pull off, but every club has it’s price.
I believe, Marvin Martin is a more realistic target and he is a very good playmaker, too.
