Arsenal Fear Worst Over Wilshere Setback
Arsenal are extremely concerned that Jack Wilshere will be out for the rest of the season.
As reported here on wearethenorthbank.com two weeks ago, Wilshere was on course to make a return to first team action in the next couple of weeks but felt consistent pain in his right ankle during running in training.
Despite reports that the discomfort was triggered in training yesterday [Thursday] the pain actually became prominent during Tuesday’s training session.
The much maligned Arsenal medical team are awaiting a comprehensive diagnosis, following a visit to see a specialist earlier today.
Those close to Wilshere are fearing that the 20-year-old’s latest setback will leave him unable to begin running again until April at the very earliest.
Arsenal will want to be especially cautious when Wilshere starts running again given the nature of his injury and the prospect of a busy summer ahead with England and possibly Great Britain at the Olympic Games.
Gutted…
Not surprised in the slightest.
As soon as it got to November and he hadn’t started running I guessed that’d be him done for the season.
There must be more to this re the medical team.
We’ve had at least 4 seasons running where a player is out for the entire season and has numerous set backs.
It just doesn’t seem like a fluke or coincidence anymore
